Venus Transit of the Sun 2004
Venus Transit 6/8/2004 from Roxbury CT
The first sighting of the Sun was 10 minutes after dawn when
it peeked through the clouds. The haze was so dense you could
see Venus naked eye, and I snapped this shot without a filter.
5:34 EST, Orion ST-80, CoolPix 850, Scopetronix 16mm, No Solar Filter!
The Sun cleared the clouds just before 6 AM and
we had good viewing for 90 minutes
6:02 EST, Orion ST-80, CoolPix 850, Scopetronix 16mm, Orion glass filter

Venus Transit of the Sun 2012
Sunspots just before the timer stopped and Venus appeared.
The only transit photo I captured was a baked simulation by Alan Chaniewski.
We had about 20 ASNH members and a dozen scopes on Mohawk Mountain.
Note the red Astroscan brought by Al Washburn, it projected the Sun onto a card on the silver rod.
My scopes are on the far right, an ST-80 on CG-4 with DSLR and a borrowed PST on a Bogan tripod.
Mercury Transit of the Sun 2016
The Mercury Transit. Large object in the center is a Sunspot.
The planet is in the lower right, moving toward the edge. There were some clouds.
Pentax K100D, Orion ST-80, CG4 mount for tracking, homemade timer for sequencing of one frame per minute.
